3. Blending.

Step 1 : This is if you want to use Photoshop, I use the finger tool on a high pressure and find a good PS brush.
The one in this screenshot is the brush I use.

Step 2 : Now on your shadow layer just use the fingertip and blend your shadows in, also do the same with
your highlights.

Step 3 : The end result.
4. Blending in Painter.

Step 1: Before you go into Painter you should merge all of your layers together minus the background and ink
layer as Painter acts abit differently with grouped layers.

Step 2 : Now in Painter I use a blender that I had tweaked for myself, just paint and blend your shadow and highlights.
5. Coloring.

Step 1 : Now add another layer on top of "base" and we'll call it color. Next set the layer to color also.
Now you are going to color your image on that layer, take note that the color you choose will look differnt once applied
on that layer so you will have to experiment with the colors to get the color you want.
Also if it's still not the correct color and you are having problems with it try using levels to adjust you grayscale base image,
you may have to go back and forth a few times to get it right, this may be the hardest part but once you get it it will look great!
You can also use the dodge and burn tool on your base image grayscale image and it will not blow out any of your colors at all.

Step 2 : Add 2 layers above above your color layer and under your ink layer, call one "shadows" and the other "hightlights".
Make sure to set the layers to "Soft Light". Now on the "shadows" layer choose a nice cold blue color and set you airbrush to around 8%
and paint over the shadows. On the highlight layer choose a nice bright warm color and do the same in the lightest places. On the
image you can see the blues in the shadow and warm colors on the highlights.
6. Finishing touches.

Step 1 : Locking trancparency. Just another little trick so you can color your ink lines any color to soften it up!

Step 2: Now for some extra colors to give your image some life! add another layer on the very top.
Let's call it "lights". Set the layer to "Soft Light" .

Step 3 : Now go to Gradients and chhose "radial" and set it to where you are using the forground color only.
Pick a nice warm color.

Step 4: Now use the gradient tool to give your pic some nice colors! you can also choose a cold color foe the darker areas.
Now you can add a background or pattern overlays or shadows.
Here is the final image:
Good Luck!
